i need something else

My daily routine is really starting to wear on me. It's the same old same old, day in and day out. You'd think a person like me, a person who likes everything just so, would savor in the comfort of having a regular routine each day. Honestly, I do like knowing exactly where I'll be and what I'll be doing each hour of the day. It makes me feel like I'm in control of something. Like I've got a grip on everything that kind of feels like it has the potential of spiraling out of control if I let up, even just a little bit.

But the routine itself is getting old. I need my routine to be changed up a bit every few months, something new thrown into the mix, something different. I get bored easily, you know. Just ask Andy. He knows my attention span is hardly a span at all.

I'm counting down the days to the end of the semester. To days that will finally be sunny and warm. To a new class and new challenges and hopefully a new work schedule that will allow me a little more freedom.

It's only three weeks away but I can feel myself shutting down and turning my back on this routine. The weeks leading up to finals are a bad time to find yourself just plain sick of it all. This is the time when I need the most energy to push through and come out on top.

It's times like these when I start going crazy and in an effort to break the monotony, I start making lists, coming up with goals, and doing personal evaluations on my lifestyle choices. I start taking on new hobbies and projects (that I really have no time for) and making promises to myself to use my pilates mat every day and floss my teeth every day and write ten good things about myself in my journal each day.

But I don't need all that, all I really need is a new routine. New scenery, new time schedule. Just a small and simple change to break it up a bit. Even if your life is awesome (and mine is) you can still feel the daily slump. It's not a fun place to be. But for the next three weeks, it has to stay the way it is and I have to live with it and find a way to push through it.

I've been there. I know this sounds kind of cheesy but even mixing up the music you listen to in the morning or while driving can help with the slump. Good luck!

Found you via 20SB, and OMG your blog is beautiful! Looking forward to checking out more :)

Also - I've found that simply changing my route can help give me the kick I need sometimes. I walk to and from work a lot and just going down a new street can spice things up.

Found you on 20SB and thought I'd stop by and say hi.

I totally know how you feel. I'm unemployed right now and taking classes online so I pretty much spend ALL MY TIME at home. I find that just changing the rooms I spend time in, going outside, even the music I listen to can help break things up a bit.

Hope that helps!

I really hope you get more followers because I love it :)
