Finally getting our glider!

Andy's mom has this adorable vintage glider sitting on her porch that I completely fell in love with at first sight.

Ever since I first saw it, I just knew I had to have one!! It's so much fun to relax and glide on during a hot summer afternoon.

So Andy and I began searching for our own glider last summer. We had pretty crappy luck though. Every time we found one in the classifieds someone else would snatch it up before we had a chance to get over there.

We found quite a few gliders on Ebay but they were all on the east coast and it wouldn't have been very cost effective to ship one over.

Yesterday, I got a text from Andy's dad saying that there was a glider in the next town over from us. I couldn't get to it though at the moment, and sure enough, a few hours later it was sold.

I was pretty disappointed that we'd missed another chance, until I came home and found out that it was Andy who the glider had been sold to!!

Apparantly his mom had called him and let him know about the find. He left work right then and went over and claimed the glider for our own!!

We are picking it up today and all I can think about is getting it home and deciding what color to paint it and what fabric to use for it's new pillows!!

Isn't she cute?
What color do you think I should I paint it?

Flashback Friday- Soda obsession

It's Friday! And you know what that means....it's Flashback time!

For those of you that know me well, you know that I have an extreme love for Dr. Pepper.

But did you know that it wasn't always that way?

I used to hate Dr. Pepper actually. My infatuation used to be with Rootbeer. My love for Rootbeer started at a young age.

See?

I thought it would always be Rootbeer, but somewhere along the line Dr. Pepper took the lead. Now I rarely ever drink Rootbeer.

Wonder if anything else will ever boot Dr. Pepper from the top spot.

What's your current food/drink infatuation?

DC recap

Rather than go through explaining every little thing, I decided just to post of sideshow of some of the pictures we took while in DC.

Seriously, there is so much to see and many of the places we went would not allow photographs.

My favorite places? The Library of Congress was awesome. I loved it the most. I was like a kid in a candy store there. You get to see cool documents like the Northwest Ordinance and the Magna Carta plus personal letters and memos written by generals and presidents and such.

I also loved the zoo, the Archives (where we saw the Constitution, Bill or Rights, and lots of other cool original documents.)

We went and saw a production of Little Shop of Horrors at the Ford Theater where Lincoln was shot. That was a fun night for both of us. We loved the show!

We had a lot of fun and saw some really cool things. I was a bit overwhelmed with everything I could have emersed myself in (being a history lover.) I probably could have spent three days reading everything at the Library of Congress for example.

So it's definately not a chill and relax type of vacation. You're walking everywhere and trying to cram as much in as you can while you're there. We were exhausted every night and sore in the morning. But it was definately a good time!

PS- I must thank
Ella for giving me this award today!

Thanks, Ella! You're awesome!

We're ba-ack!

Um...DC rocked my socks.
Andy's too.
It was super cool!!

My body and feet are in pain from all the walking we did, but it was worth it.
There is SO MUCH to see and do!!

So you want to see some of the sweet photos we took?

Okay, okay! Keep your britches on!
I'm currently in the process of sorting them out. We took a lot-a lot of pictures.

Stay tuned. Hopefully I'll have a run down of the DC Extravaganza posted by tomorrow.
If not, then hopefully by Friday.

Hey, I've got the rest of my life to catch up on too, don't ya know.
Summer classes start today- woo!!

home envy

I have completely fallen in love with Bonnie from Going Home to Roost and her Flickr set of her fabulous home makeover!

I've always been a fan of neutrals accented with pops of color.

I love all the quirky things she has added to the decor to give it a touch of personality.
To me, this home is the epitome of friendly, fun, homey, and oh so inviting!
